Trans-disciplinary science by networking biological measurements
With strong and widely spread expertise in optics, microfluidics, material synthesis, genomics, and engineering, we develop physical tools to probe biological structures and realize ways to network biological measurements for interrogating complex life systems. By fusing our strength with the power of information science, we tackle fundamental problems in biophysical and biological science, and explore the potential of such studies in healthcare industry.

Develop bioimaging/sensing, micro/nanofluidics, and information technologies
To these grand challenges and independently, we actively work on development of novel optical imaging, functional micro/nanofluidics, and information techniques, and their integrated modalities, from a scratch. New technologies with the focus on biotechnological purposes continually emerge and may spin out to create industrial activities with further excitement.

OPTICS
Currently, the primary focus of my research is to develop novel optical imagers for life science and medicine, from a scratch. Moreover, my research seeks to bring physics tradition of precise measurement to biology and tries to transform the real value and concept of “image” through technological breakthroughs.

MICROFLUIDICS
Ability to build up an automated microfluidic systems from a scratch is our strength and focus, which helps us to create a novel optofluidic concepts and redesign/develop the enabling systems with the focus on biotechnological purpose,
