Welcome to the Future of Bioengineering Lab at the University of Tokyo, where we push the boundaries of scientific discovery to revolutionize healthcare, environment, and bio-industrial processes.

Led by a team of world-renowned professors and researchers, our lab provides a vibrant and enriching environment for highly motivated students to develop their skills, forge innovative ideas, and transform these ideas into reality.

  • Graduate / Undergraduate students

  • Postdoctoral fellow

    • Currently, we are seeking for highly motivated postdocs or prospective postdocs. Please contact Sadao (sadaota@solab.rcast.u-tokyo.ac.jp) with a cover letter, CV, previous research summary (1-3 pages). Funding situations may change, so email Sadao for inquiry. We offer an environment to expand her/his visions and potentials through the closest and deepest interaction with biologists, technologists, and information scientists.

    • Position 1: Synthetic biology, Material sciences, and Chemistry

      • <Prefer> Experiences in molecular cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, material synthesis, probe design and synthesis, or biophysics are preferred

      • <Require> Motivation and/or flexibility to work together with engineers and try the world’s first technologies to enable interdisciplinary and exploratory research

    • Position 2: Optical, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering

      • <Prefer> Optical scientists who want to develop truly meaningful and game-changing biotechnologies. Skills for constructing microscopes and those for signal processing are required.

      • <Prefer> Engineers who have strong background in microfluidics and/or MEMS, information science, or bioinformatics are also highly welcomed.

      • <Require> Motivation and/or flexibility to work together with biologists to share, understand, and solve the unmet need in biology and medicine

    • Please contact Sadao ASAP (earlier is better) if you are graduating PhD in coming years and interested in proposing research with us for postdoctoral study fellowships:
